Six Blocks, Sixty Years: A Black History Celebration

Six Blocks, Sixty Years: A Black History Celebration

COMING SOON

Save the Date: February 15, 2025

On March 7, 1965, known as Bloody Sunday, civil rights marchers began a 54-mile journey from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, but were brutally stopped just six blocks in at the Edmund Pettus Bridge. To honor this pivotal moment, we invite community members and law enforcement to join us for an interactive march at the Mill Ave Bridge that promotes unity and reflection.

This event commemorates the Civil Rights Movement through education and advocacy, serving as a powerful reminder of the struggles Black Americans faced in their fight for equality. By participating, we honor those who fought for justice, foster meaningful conversations about race and equality, and inspire ongoing efforts toward social justice. This interactive march not only strengthens our community but ensures the lessons of history stay relevant for future generations.

In 2025, we will mark the 60th anniversary of this civil rights milestone with an inclusive march, uniting people from all walks of life. Together, we will walk six blocks from the Mill Ave Bridge to Tempe’s MLK Ragsdale Park, celebrating Black History Month as one unified community.

Registration for the march will be available soon.
