Start your MLK Weekend right! Lakeshore Music brings two of the most highly acclaimed drummers in the West, Joe LaBarbera and Dom Moio, to Tempe Center for the Arts to headline a unique jazz concert.
You pay for two great drummers. The spectacular backdrop of Tempe Town Lake at night is free! Please, no rim shots.
And, no, it will not be 2 hours of drum solos. The headliners will be joined by legendary Valley artists Dr. Mike Kocour, ASU Director of Jazz Studies, on piano, and Dwight Kilian on the upright in a combo performing contemporary jazz music that is sure to delight the audience.
The great LaBarbera, best known for his recordings and live performances in iconic pianist Bill Evans' trio and in the quartet of Chuck Mangione, accompanies Kocour on the music of Evans.
Moio, Phoenix’s leading A-List drummer, who has performed on more than 65 jazz CDs and for two decades has been on ASU's jazz faculty, accompanies on original piano compositions by Kocour.
