2024 Juneteenth Block Party

Enjoy a night of entertainment with musical performances by this year's emcee, Teri Tobin, spoken word from Urban Poet and DJ sets from DJ Panic and DJ AKSHEN. They will be on the turntables all night, along with performances from the Furious Styles Crew! They'll be opening the floor for all to join in on the fun and express yourself this Juneteenth! 

At Ars Poetica's station, poets will be creating a unique experience by crafting personalized haiku poems for each individual about YOUR story on old-school typewriters.

Enjoy a selection of adult beverages including Crown Royal canned cocktails, locally awarded beers from Pedal Haus, and more! Feast on mouthwatering BBQ from Kingpin BBQ and soul-touching dishes from 28 Still Cooking. And don't miss Flav-Oh's old-skool ice cream truck, offering nostalgic treats from the nineties and Sunset Freeze, serving up their legendary sorbets!

This year will feature the first ever Hip-Hop Barber Battle from two Downtown Tempe barbershops, Elite and In The Cut! These battles act as a cultural hub, promoting local barbers and celebrating the fusion of music, style, and community craftsmanship. Vote for your favorite in each category- Fast Fade, Freestyle Design and Mullet! 

Lace up your roller skates and dance to the rhythm of Juneteenth with a retro roller rink experience for all ages with Zoni Girls! Join the 40plus Double Dutch Club for an opportunity to jump rope and showcase your skills!

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, double dutch is a fun and inclusive activity for all ages. Learn about the cultural heritage of double dutch while engaging in the friendly fun!

Check out The Doorways, an interactive art experience where we ask you to step through the past, present and the future. The experience leverages the pillars of storytelling; reading, writing and speaking to form a collective narative of Juneteenth celebration.

Take a break from the festivities and enjoy a premium cigar in the RichKat Mobile Cigar Lounge! The lounge offers an exclusive experience for event attendees, including the opportunity to purchase cigars and indulge in some relaxation! Or- take a beat at one of the Spades or Dominos tables! 

This block party will be fun for the whole family with not only an area set up with games for all ages, but Tempe Public Library will also be there with Inspiring quotes from black authors, activists, artists, and even a selection of books to take home with you! Round it all off with taking a family photo to remember this year's Juneteenth at our free photo booth!
