5 Things to do During Your Lunch Break in Downtown Tempe

Tag: BlogShopping & Leisure

Picture this: You’re at work. It’s noon. You’re not hungry because you had overnight oats for breakfast and pizza for your second breakfast. You have 60 minutes to kill. What will you do? You could pick up your cell and get lost on Facebook for an hour, or you could do something WAY more exciting and awesome.

1. Get a Henna tattoo. Estimated time: 30 minutes. Estimated cost: $15+

Spend your lunch hour adorning your bod at The Henna Shoppe. All of the designs are completely customizable, and can be placed pretty much anywhere! The amount of time it takes from start to finish can vary on the size of your chosen tat, but usually the entire process takes about 30 minutes. After the paste is applied, just be sure to allow it to dry for 15-20 minutes, and then be careful not to smudge it throughout the rest of your workday!

2. Hike "A" Mountain. Estimated time: 45 minutes. Estimated cost: Free Ninety Nine

Catch some rays and work those calves! A Mountain is a .9 mile trail – so it’s perfect for a little mid-day trek. Bonus: It’s a great view at the top; bring your phone to snap a photo for Instagramming later. ;)

3. Prep for the weekend. Estimated time: 10-60 minutes. Estimated cost: This is a funny thing to try to estimate... am I right? I mean, what if there is a sale? What if it’s payday? What if they have jeans that fit just right? It’s hard to find jeans that fit just right. Some things simply cannot be cannot passed up.

Do you have a fun Saturday night planned? The kind of fun that you want to look extra snazzy for? Get ahead by shopping for your weekend threads during the week! With Urban Outfitters, Pitaya, Divaz, Creations, and plenty more all within steps of each other, you can easily snag a pair of killer boots or score an entire ensemble and be back in the office in no time.

4. Get artsy. Estimated time: 20-60 minutes. Estimated Cost: Free as a bird

Release your inner Picasso by doodling on the giant chalkboard located on 3rd & Mill. Get creative! We love seeing your masterpieces.

5. Do yoga. Estimated time: 70 minutes (assuming you get there 10 minutes early to setup) Estimated cost: Donation based, suggested donation $10

Exercise and de-stress at Yoga To The People. They have classes that start at noon Monday – Friday, and they last one hour. Namaste!

These are just a handful of options we have at our fingertips Downtown! What else could we do on our lunch break to spice things up a bit? Be sure to share your 60 minute adventures with us by posting a photo to Instagram or Facebook and tagging #DowntownTempe .
